. He could have strictly focused on systemic deregulation, but he let his impulses get the better of him, blasting through barriers without weighing the costs.
Until now, Ford has been shielded from the consequences of his style of governance thanks to weak opponents. The provincial Liberals have recovered from last election’s shellacking, but, lacking a charismatic leader, haven’t posed a serious threat yet. The NDP has been similarly anemic. The pandemic worked in Ford’s favour and initially boosted his personal popularity, as tends to happen with any political leader during a crisis, though that’s beginning to fade.
Ford should take a step back and reevaluate his relationship with his advisors, both within the civil service and within his own party. It’s possible to defer to experts while still being critical of them, so long as you put in the effort. Perhaps it would also help if he loosened his grip over his own government, allowing other party figures to have more of a say in decision-making.

Not a chance in the world would I vote for fordnation. He’s made it clear that he works for Corporate Canada and shareholders, not for the voting population.
