BREAKING: We're suing the Biden administration over executive actions that severely restrict asylum and put thousands of lives at risk. The White House rejected those assertions in a statement on Wednesday night, reiterating that the president had no choice after the GOP stymied efforts to up border security and funding.

The new rules, which went into effect last week, limit the processing of new asylum applicants as soon as the number of average migrant encounters at the southern border tops 2,500 a day. At the time of the order, that figure was much higher, at about 4,000 a day,The temporary bans can only be lifted two weeks after average numbers of migrant encounters drop below 1,500 a day., many people intentionally cross the border and then turn themselves in to border agents to begin the asylum process.
