The “virtual” hearings — for Tamara Lich, Chris Barber, Pat King, Tyson “Freedom George” Billings, and, most recently, Steeve Charland — have frequently hit the maximum capacity of 500 participants as Zoom sessions are flooded with protest supporters or curious observers.
The hearings have also presented a test of longstanding courtroom decorum — and tested the patience of the presiding judges — with lengthy court sessions featuring frequent interruptions, unwelcome interjections from the public gallery, reminders to place phones and other devices on “mute” and repeated warnings from the bench as some observers appear to be “live-streaming” the proceedings.
