You can't serve on a jury if mentally I'll but are deemed of sound mind and body by our government to make the decision to end your life if you suffer from mental illness. Allowing for something like this effectively nullifies the entire psychiatric industry.
The only reason this is a feasible solution is due to a dead person does not require money to fund therapy/medication. Plus they legislate it and place the onus on the doctors thus 'keeping their hands clean' by not making the ultimate, respective decision.
