6 new coronavirus cases in Alberta, bringing province total to 29

The case in the Edmonton Zone involves a man who recently returned from a conferred in Vancouver. He attended a number of dental offices before he tested positive for coronavirus, the province said. Everyone who came into contact with him has been contacted to be tested.

"I expect new cases will continue to be identified in the coming days," Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta's chief medical officer of health, said.Mainly, the province recommended suspending large gatherings with 250 people or more, and advising Albertans against travelling outside of Canada. "The measures we are taking will help protect Albertans, especially those who are most vulnerable to severe disease."

"School closures are not universally agreed on as an effective intervention to prevent spread," Hinshaw said. "Any school closure would need to be in place for months, not weeks, to be effective."

If this is accurate, then this is negligent and boarders on criminal.

Alberta must have been eating glue or some shit because it seems to get pretty much everything wrong

Think people...less than 3% of those under 20 are affected by the covid19. If school is cancelled, then parents have to stay home. Parents who work in the health industry...that are urgently needed right now.

I understand they listening to actual professionals I just think its good that we are told to avoid groups of 250+ but schools are ok?

Well sure, kids are notoriously hygienic and respectful of guidelines for health and safety. Nothing to worry about.

So...a 'let's wait until the virus has spread everywhere before we do anything to stop it or slow it down' kind of approach? That could definitely work.

Well I imagine that change by early next week.

I am sure Parents probably would actually like to keep their kids home to stop this spread.
