Since the Conservative leadership race began, many Canadians and political observers in this country have been asking—and trying to answer: “Should the leader of a federal party be able to speak both official languages?”
Undoubtedly, some Canadian voters probably agree with Rempel, but what does the data actually say? The pollster Léger went in the field last week and asked Canadians their view on the matter. The results, published in the pages of Le Journal de Montréal , are interesting to say the least.
In order to compare the results, Léger first asked respondents their voting intentions. The national numbers are on par with the current polling average: The Liberals and Conservatives remain in a statistical tie, with the NDP doing slightly better than last October with 19 per cent.
quebec poll i guess
Don't be ridiculous. Do you really think that the 416 gives a damn if they hear French from any leader? Give me a break. Stop this nonsense. If you want another language, push a button, and get it on the spot.
A poll conducted by Leger and in la journal de Montreal. The results are hardly surprising.
His language skills aside we need to take a closer look at Mr MacKay before anointing him as the new leader of the CPC. I’m pretty sure he’s not the person the CPC need to lead them out of the weeds!🤔🇨🇦
Right, a crushing defeat not because they have horrible policies and consistently lie to the public. Should absolutely learn French, no excuse. But most people want Truth. A politician that lies is serving himself and not the public.
Where did you conduct the pol,Quebec city?
Shocking!!!!
Peter Mackay: Bilingual schmingual... I smoke camels & wear armour.
Of course it matters. PeterMacKay had a long long long time to learn the language properly. He would be pretty stupid to think it doesn’t matter.
17.5% 🇨🇦‘ns bilingual. I don’t think so, Maclean’s.
