Dolly was one of 12 children and grew up dirt poor in a tiny one-room cabin with a wood stove and just one bed in the foothills of Tennessee's Smoky Mountains.Dolly was only nine years old when she started performing on local TV. By age 10 she was performing on TV and radio in nearby Knoxville, Tennessee.The late Whitney Houston has become synonymous with the heart-wrenching ballad, but Dolly first wrote"I Will Always Love You" in 1973.
On top of that, she is also one of a very select few artists who have been nominated for an Oscar, a Grammy, a Tony and an Emmy.In 2022, Dolly was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Calling it “a very special night,” Dolly delivered a rousing speech that served as a keen reminder of why the legendary country music singer and songwriter is a rocker at heart.
“I think humour, honestly, is one of the best things when you’re married like that.
