A 14-year old has been charged after allegedly setting off fireworks while on board a GO train.
According to Anne Marie Aikins, chief spokesperson for Metrolinx, employees were told that a group of young people had set off fireworks on a moving GO train around 9:30 p.m. Thursday. Aikins said the youths were “pulled off” at Rouge Hill station by special constables and one 14-year old was arrested.
“Fortunately, neither incidents caused serious injuries,” said Aikins. “However, setting off fireworks in the direction of people or trains is incredibly dangerous and could result in serious injuries and charges.” A Toronto Police Service spokesperson confirmed the 14-year old was charged with one count of mischief under $5,000, and that a 16-year old was released.chaotic Victoria Day celebrationsPolice said in a June 28 press release that a plan is in place “with public safety at the forefront,” and reminded the public that personal fireworks in City of Toronto parks and beaches are prohibited.
