) - A new era begins for Brewbaker Technology Magnet High School as it puts together a football program and names its first head football coach. Brew Tech announced it was adding football in December. On Thursday, the administration named Justin Hannah as the inaugural head coach of the Rams.
Hannah, a Birmingham native, comes to Brew Tech with an impressive college and profession football resume, including time in the NFL. He attended Tuskegee University on an athletic scholarship, where he started at defensive back as a true freshman. He finished his college career with 18 interceptions and three touchdowns on interception returns, and won a number of honors along the way.
Hannah is the only Tuskegee University Athletic Hall of Fame inductee to win a National Black College Championship and four consecutive SIAC championships as a player. After college, he signed with the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent in 2010. He later spent time with the Montreal Alouettes in the Canadian Football League before finishing his six-year pro career in the Arena Football League.
He’s a graduate of West End High School in Birmingham, where he played football, basketball and ran track. His high school honors included all-state , all-metro and all-city . He also tied a state record for interceptions in a single game.
