This visit comes after a series of high-level meetings in recent months, including discussions between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Russia in October. Wang highlighted the shared interests of China and India, urging both sides to foster mutual understanding, support, and collaboration instead of suspicion and alienation. He stressed that the improvement in bilateral relations benefits not only the two countries but also the Global South, contributing to peace, stability, development, and prosperity in Asia and beyond. Misri's trip includes meetings with Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong and Liu Jianchao, head of the international department of the Communist Party of China. The two-day visit aims to build on the progress made last year, when China and India announced a breakthrough in resolving the border dispute along the Line of Actual Control in the Ladakh region. Relations had been strained following clashes between their troops in 2020, which resulted in the deaths of 20 Indian and four Chinese soldiers.
