For the first time since the 1950s, the home of an Alamo Heights fixture — burger joint The Broadway 5050 — is up for sale. The restaurant's building at 5050 Broadway , a freestanding building next door at 5054 Broadway , and an empty lot at 102 Barilla are listed jointly for $3 million.

Formerly home to Volare Pizza, the small building at 5054 Broadway could be used for a restaurant or retail space, the listing says. As for the empty lot, additional parking spots are a possibility previously discussed by sellers and the city. Since opening in the bottom level of the corner building, The Broadway 5050 has become a beloved casual spot to grab an 09er burger and dine surrounded by Arsenal F.C. decor and skateboards. The upper level of the building is unfinished and framed for office space, according to the listing. The restaurant is on a month-to-month lease, and the new buyer would have to negotiate new lease terms, the listing says. 'We are trying our best to stay where we are but if the new buyer doesn’t want us there we are discussing relocating,' owner P.J. Gottsacker told the Express-News. 'The 5050 is the 3rd oldest bar in San Antonio so we would be extremely disappointed if that ends up being the case,' Gottsacker and his wife, Nicole, have owned and operated The Broadway 5050 since 2014. The couple took over from Don Lassiter after a devastating grease fire shuttered the restaurant for over eight months.
