A flurry of new polls show Vice President Kamala Harris and former president Donald Trump remain poised for a photo finish in this week’s presidential election
Kamala Harris meanwhile has been visiting a historically black church in the swing state of Michigan before visiting a barbershop.The vice president spoke for just under 10 minutes at the Greater Emmanuel Institutional Church of God in Christ in Detroit, telling the congregation the country is “ready to bend the arc of history towards justice”.“In just two days we have the power to decide the fate of our nation for generations to come,” Harris said. “We must act.
We must act on the plans He has in store for us, and we must make them real through our works, in our daily choices, in services to our communities, in our democracy.”After her Detroit appearance, Harris is due to head to East Lansing, a college town in an industrial state that is viewed as a must-win for the Democrat. She faces scepticism from some of the state’s 200,000 Arab Americans who are frustrated that Harris has not done more to help end the war in Gaza and scale back aid to Israel.
