The Portage County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents Thursday of a series of car thefts and attempted thefts.

PORTAGE COUNTY, Ohio - The Portage County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents Thursday of a series of car thefts and attempted thefts . According to the sheriff’s office, the series occurred from April 17 through May 14 in the areas of Kent and Ravenna .

The targeted vehicles were identified as Kia and Hyundai models. The sheriff’s office identified a juvenile suspect who admitted to his involvement in the car thefts and attempted thefts. The sheriff’s office said it cannot release the suspect’s identity because the suspect is a juvenile. The office also wants to remind residents to protect their vehicles by locking doors, removing keys and key fobs from their cars and using anti-theft devices.

Anyone with information on the car thefts is encouraged to contact the Portage County Sheriff’s Office at 296-5100.
