Alexandra Apalaghiei, a 35-year-old mother of one, has been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurological condition that currently has no cure and is terminal. She is on the brink of losing her ability to walk and talk, and her life has changed dramatically since receiving the diagnosis. Apalaghiei believes she first had symptoms of the disease in November 2021, and began experiencing extreme stiffness in the morning, which was exacerbated by a fall in January 2022. She has since undergone several tests, including an Electromyography (EMG) and Nerve Conduction Study (NCS), which confirmed her ALS diagnosis in April 2023. Apalaghiei is now relying on her partner for daily tasks, and is struggling to maintain her mobility. She has launched a GoFundMe to raise money for medical expenses, treatments, and mobility equipment, and is determined to keep using her legs for as long as possible.
