The iconic Abbott's Frozen Custard shop in Rochester, New York, is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2026. Starting as a small custard stand in 1926, it has grown to over 30 locations across multiple states while remaining a beloved community gathering place. A celebratory event is planned for July 17th.

The landmark ice cream shop on Lake Avenue started off in 1926 as a custard stand. It was opened by Arthur Abbott, who fell in love with Rochester after traveling the country. For 100 years, Abbott’s Frozen Custard in Charlotte has been a gathering spot for anyone and everyone in this community to come for a sweet treat served with a smile," Gail Drew, owner and president of Abbott's, said in a statement.
"We love our guests, and are truly honored to be part of so many of their traditions. Today, there are more than 30 Abbott's locations. Most of them are in the Rochester region, but there's also shops in Massachusetts, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Florida and LouisianaThe Lake Avenue shop is hosting a day of community-focused festivities July 17 to celebrate 100 years of business. Details will be released in the coming weeks.
A driver was ticketed after a crash Friday afternoon in Ontario County. A teen was in critical but stable condition Friday, one day after he suffered third-degree burns, according to Ontario County Sheriff David Cirencione. When the chemicals were discovered, officers immediately evacuated the home and nearby residents.
