Authorities in Boyle County, Kentucky, have discovered remains on a property linked to the 1992 disappearance of Anna, leading to murder charges against two individuals. The investigation remains ongoing as forensic analysis is pending.

In a significant development in a decades-old missing person case, remains have been discovered on a property in Boyle County, Kentucky , linked to the 1992 disappearance of Anna.

The Boyle County Sheriff's Office announced that the remains were found on Monday, May 25, and are being sent to a forensic laboratory for examination and identification. While the discovery is confirmed, authorities have withheld the exact location, noting only that the property was previously identified as a potential site connected to the disappearance. No official identification will be made until the investigation is complete and next of kin are notified.

Anna, who was 23 years old at the time, was last seen on November 19, 1992, in Junction City, Kentucky. Despite extensive investigations, her body had never been found until now. The case took a crucial turn in February 2026 when authorities in North Carolina announced the unexpected location of Michele Hundley Smith, a missing mother last seen in late 2001, generating widespread social media attention. Although that case is separate, it underscored the ongoing efforts to resolve long-standing disappearances.

Following the discovery of the remains, a detective with the Boyle County Sheriff's Office obtained indictments against Anthony and Barbara on May 19. Anthony faces charges of murder, tampering with physical evidence, and abuse of a corpse. Barbara is charged with complicity to murder, complicity to tampering with physical evidence, and complicity to abuse of a corpse. Both are currently held in the Boyle County Detention Center with bonds set at $2 million cash each.

Their attorney, Helton, expressed skepticism about the murder charge, stating that the facts do not support it and that many potential witnesses have died over the years, which could limit evidence. The property on Spring Valley Road in Danville, where the remains were found, had been searched previously in 2016 after a warrant was served, though no evidence was discovered at that time. The renewed focus on the site led to the recent discovery and subsequent arrests.

Meanwhile, investigators mentioned another incident where Missouri authorities searching for a missing person found skeletal remains and arrested Chaun Asbury after he attempted to flee his Bucyrus residence. These events highlight a series of intertwined investigations into unresolved disappearances and the persistent pursuit of justice by law enforcement agencies across multiple states.

In summary, the discovery of remains on a Kentucky property connected to a 1992 missing person case has prompted murder charges against two individuals, though their defense questions the strength of the evidence due to deceased witnesses. The case remains under active investigation, with forensic analysis pending to confirm the identity of the remains. This development offers a potential breakthrough for a family that has awaited answers for over three decades
