Jazz legends Terence Blanchard and Ravi Coltrane pay tribute to John Coltrane and Miles Davis at the SFJAZZ Center in San Francisco.
Terence Blanchard , a renowned jazz trumpeter, and Ravi Coltrane , son of the legendary saxophonist John Coltrane , took to the stage at the SFJAZZ Center in San Francisco on Thursday, May 28, 2026, to pay tribute to the centennial celebration of the birth of these jazz giants in 1926.
The concert was part of a four-night celebration that ran through Sunday, and it featured a talented ensemble of musicians, including Charles Altura on guitar, Julian Pollack on piano and keyboard, David Ginyard, Jr. on bass, and Oscar Seaton on drums. The musicians had a unique approach to the music, drawing inspiration from the iconic recordings of Coltrane and Davis, but refusing to simply replicate their style.
