An 18-year-old woman was killed and at least six other people were injured in a shooting at a birthday party in California in the early hours of Sunday morning, authorities say.

Officers were told that partygoers had gathered at the residence to celebrate the birthday of a 19-year-old man when the shooting unfolded. One of the victims, an 18-year-old woman, was taken to a local area hospital, but did not survive her injuries, police said. Authorities have yet to publicly identify the woman killed.
