Young Sheldon's tragic Thanksgiving explained.
While Young Sheldon’s George Sr. fate was already tragic, The Big Bang Theory spinoff’s lone Thanksgiving special made this even worse upon a re-watch. Although Young Sheldon’s series finale was bittersweet, it was not the show’s saddest episode. That honor goes to the penultimate outing, season 7, episode 13, “Funeral.
While The Big Bang Theory’s finale is moving, “Funeral” is uniquely heartbreaking as it depicts the ways that Sheldon’s unique worldview made grief and loss harder for him. Upon a re-watch, there are many episodes of Young Sheldon that are sadder once viewers know how George Sr.’s story ultimately ends. Viewers always knew that George Sr. would die when Sheldon was still a young teen and an early episode of Young Sheldon foreshadowed the possibility of a heart attack taking his life.
