The New York Yankees continue their weekend series with the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday night at PNC Park.
The Yankees activated reliever Ian Hamilton from the IL to take Misiewicz’ roster spot.
Everyone at PNC Park was stunned seeing the liner hit Misiewicz in the head, then ricochet all the way to shallow right field in the air before dropping in front of Aaron Judge for a game-tying single. Misiewicz dropped to his knees in pain, but within a minute or so he was joking to trainers and teammates.
After being carted off the field, the pitcher was examined by a Pirates physician and then went to Allegheny General Hospital for more tests, which revealed the concussion symptoms.“I just know he was good enough to be released night from the hospital, which was really good news,” Boone said. “When he got back from the hospital, I was able to stop by his room and see him. He was in good spirits. He looked and sounded pretty good.”“All things considered, he’s doing pretty well,” Boone said.
