.YoshikiOfficial made a donation to Leonardo DiCaprio's Amazon Forest fund

is raising awareness about the fires still raging in the Amazon rainforest by donating $100,000 to the emergency Amazon Forest Fund formed by Leonardo DiCaprio.

"The Amazon fires deserve the world's attention," Yoshiki said in a statement. "I want to encourage people in every nation, including Japan, to take action." The iconic J-pop artist made the donation through his YOSHIKI FOUNDATION AMERICA, a U.S. 501 nonprofit. All the funds will be distributed to five local groups working on the ground to protect the Amazon and its wildlife.

The Amazon Forest Fund was launched last month by Earth Alliance, a new environmental foundation backed by DiCaprio and philanthropists Laurene Powell Jobs and Brian Sheth, and hosted by Global Wildlife Conservation.
