The Los Angeles premiere of a wrestling biopic has been canceled due to the threat of wildfires caused by strong winds. The DGA Theater event was postponed as a safety precaution.
The Tuesday, Jan. 7 Los Angeles premiere of the wrestling biopic was canceled due to “heightened wind activity and fire outbreaks”. A rep for the movie's distributor, Amazon MGM Studios, said in a statement to PEOPLE, “As much as we were looking forward to celebrating this wonderful and inspiring film with you, safety is our first priority'.
The event at the DGA Theater has been canceled “in light of today’s safety concerns around heightened wind activity and fire outbreaks in Los Angeles,' a rep for the movie's distributor, Amazon MGM Studios, said in a statement to PEOPLE. “As much as we were looking forward to celebrating this wonderful and inspiring film with you, safety is our first priority,' the statement continued. 'Thank you for your understanding and please stay safe.” L.A. officials say the fire has grown rapidly in just a few hours, to nearly 800 acres as of 2:20 p.m. local time. More than 250 L.A. firefighters have responded to the ongoing emergency.
