The laser communication contributes to the Military Programming Law objectives, which aims to strengthen France’s capabilities in space.

The Keraunos satellite was able to bypass the disruptions caused by atmospheric turbulence in order to obtain optimal transmission quality. France has announced the successful establishment of a stable laser link which constituted a world first in high-speed optical satellite communications between a nano-satellite in low orbit and a commercial optical ground station.

The objective was to test high-speed communication based on innovative technologies from the company Cailabs. The Keraunos satellite was able to bypass the disruptions caused by atmospheric turbulence in order to obtain optimal transmission quality, according to thea powerful new laser communication system to send pictures and videos of beloved pets all the way to the International Space Station.

The French are also aiming to integrate it into the future satellite systems of the Ministry of the Armed Forces.
