On October 5, a Lowe's Supply Chain Manager reported to Lower Swatara Township Police that an employee had been allegedly stealing from the company since August
According to the manager's report, Betsy Warfel would create refunds for orders placed by customers, then convert them into Lowe's gift cards. Warfel would then use the gift cards to buy items for herself.Warfel admitted to her manager in an interview how she would obtain these gift cards and use them to buy various items, which she would then ship to herself at home.
Police say that they made multiple attempts to contact Warfel via phone on October 9, to no success. An officer then went to Warfel's residence to try and speak with her, but no one answered the door, according to records. A further search warrant revealed that multiple items Warfel stole were sitting inside her home and vehicle, according to the criminal complaint.
