With the sequel to the wildly popular “ Twister ” set to hit theaters next Wednesday, residents of Wakita , Oklahoma, said the anticipation has led to a resurgence in their small town.See an inside look at the small-town ' Twister ' museum in the video above'This has been an amazing year for visitors,” said Linda Wade , the director of the Twister the Movie Museum.Fewer than 500 people live in the city of Wakita , in Grant County .
”Many Wakita residents, including Wade, were able to help behind the scenes or even make it as an extra when Bill Paxton and many Hollywood stars were in town filming.She said they take great pride in their name being in “Twister.”'The fact that the Wakita name on our water tower was there — it has made us recognized worldwide,” Wade said.The museum displays memorabilia, from behind-the-scenes looks at the filming in Wakita to the world-famous Dorothy One.
