Forecasters are warning drivers to be cautious of the road conditions.
Sunny skies will push the temperatures into the mid-30s Friday afternoon, according to meteorologist David Martin. But the temperature will drop this evening to as low as 14, he said.
The frigid temperatures will remain Saturday morning, Martin said, but sunny skies will take over again. The high temperature Saturday is supposed to be around 32.Sunday will start off cloudy with temperatures in the low to mid 20s, he said — and then the precipitation will start in the Harrisburg area. It’ll be a “mix of light rain and snow, freezing rain and even some sleet,” Martin said.
He said the rain and snow will last until 4 p.m., with temperatures around 34 degrees. The wintery mix will transition into mostly rain throughout Sunday evening. Forecasters are predicting a snow accumulation of less than a half inch.Next week, the rain will continue into Monday and Tuesday, with temperatures in the 40s, he said.
Although the weather service meteorologist is predicting that there will be “another shot of arctic air” heading toward central Pennsylvania later next week, he said it could be weeks before temperatures drop again.Atmospheric river and potential bomb cyclone: Chaotic winter weather hits East CoastIf you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
