Smoke from surrounding wildfires, especially in California, have been blowing into northern and central Utah, causing smoky skies and poor air quality unhealthy
for sensitive groups.Multiple fires have been burning in Utah and across the West, however, the massive Park Fire in California has been a major contributor to smoke-filled skies.
Officials with Cal Fire said the blaze started Wednesday, when a man was seen pushing a burning car into a gully near Chico – about 100 miles north of Sacramento and 165 miles west of Reno, Nevada. The man fled the scene. "We have a huge fire burning in California... and then another one in Southern California,” she said. “The smoke stream from both of these fires really moves in across the state.”
A Red Flag Warning was issued for central and southern Utah, where critical fire danger was expected through Sunday evening.
