Prime Minister Theresa May urged to stand down following heavy losses in the local elections in England.

Theresa May heckled by Conservative delegate following heavy losses for her party in the local elections. The Conservatives have lost more than 500 seats across England at the time of writing, with more results to come on Friday afternoon.LONDON — Theresa May was heckled by a Conservative delegate on Friday afternoon in the wake of her party losing hundreds of seats across England in the local elections.

The prime minister was confronted as she took to the stage at the Welsh Conservative conference in Llangollen, Wales."The national convention doesn't want you. We don't want you."May tried to make light of the incident, saying that"I have to say my experience of North Wales is that everybody I meet here is friendly."It came after the party lost hundreds of seats across the country in the local elections. The Tories had lost over 500 seats at the time of writing.

"I think obviously our party leadership and our party nationally need to look at the situation and make some very, very serious decisions now, in terms of where we go." May was already unpopular with swathes of Conservative MPs and party members prior to Thursday's local elections for her decision to delay Brexit and pursue a cross-party deal with Jeremy Corbyn's Labour Party. Our Brexit Insider Facebook group is the best place for up-to-date news and analysis about Britain's departure from the EU, direct from Business Insider's political reporters.
