The Backstreet Boys have been making music for almost 30 years. Here, they reflect on how their music has endured with fans and preview their DNA World Tour.
AJ McLean would now like to go by Alex. The Backstreet Boys singer opened up about the name shift and explained what led to that decision in the latest episode of “Frosted Tips With Lance Bass.” Bass began his conversation with McLean, as well as actor Brian Austin Green, by saying, “I hear you want to start going by Alex more than AJ.” McLean said he now has “learned” that AJ “is a persona” and a character known as “one-fifth of the Backstreet Boys.
Backstreet Boys fans will recall in 2001 when his four bandmates went on “Total Request Live” with Carson Daly and announced that McLean was entering rehab. Back in September 2022, he celebrated being one-year sober and had a total body transformation. At the time, he told TODAY.com that he was “in the best shape” of his life after making small diet changes that included no alcohol and fast food. He also spoke about the difference between him as AJ and Alex.
