Who is Charlie in The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart?

Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT This article contains spoilers for The Lost Flowers of Alice HartIn the fourth episode of The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, a new character is introduced, however, this teenage boy may not actually be as unfamiliar as he first seems.

The many secrets and surprises that appear in The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart all come back to Alice's grandmother, June. At the start of the series, Alice's parents, Clem and Agnes, perish in a mysterious house fire, leaving Alice an orphan. Worse than that, Agnes was pregnant at the time of the fire, and though doctors were able to save the baby, they are not confident that they can keep him alive.

Charlie Is Clem & Agnes' Son In The Lost Flowers Of Alice Hart Ultimately, this thread from episode 3 becomes clear in The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart episode 4 when it is revealed that Charlie, who first appears to be Sally and John's son, is actually Clem and Agnes' son. Charlie is first seen in the episode as a teenager, attending an appointment with his adopted parents Sally and John. It seems that he has had a medical problem that has finally been solved.

Why June Gave Sally Custody Of Charlie & Lied To Alice That Her Brother Was Dead It seems that June's main reason for giving up Charlie to Sally and John was because of her fear that he would end up like his father, Clem. In the beginning of The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, it is made clear that Clem has violent tendencies that lead him to abuse Agnes and Alice.

Therefore, to keep Charlie ignorant of his past, she kept Alice from knowing about him. Without a sibling relationship, Charlie could hopefully grow into a person separate from his violent origins. Overall, June's choice makes sense, but also caused more harm than good. By taking control of the situation, she forced Alice to believe that she had killed her own brother and made Charlie think that Alice didn't care for him.
