The revelation came one day after McEnany removed her mask while talking to reporters.
The White House Correspondents' Association on Monday morning issued a tame response to the news Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany tested positive for COVID-19; aMcEnany is the latest addition to a growing list of White House personnel — including President Donald Trump — who have contracted the virus. Trump remains hospitalized, his exact condition is not clear.
White House reporters took to Twitter to react to the news of McEnany's diagnosis, such as CBS News White House correspondent Ben Tracy, who ,"I felt safer reporting in North Korea than I currently do reporting at The White House. This is just crazy." The correspondents' association issued a statement, wishing McEnany a"swift recovery" — but made no mention of her"As of this moment, we are not aware of additional cases among White House journalists, though we know some are awaiting test results," the association said in its statement.
McEnany said she tested positive early Monday morning and at that time, was not experiencing symptoms. She is beginning quarantine and said she will"continue working on behalf of the American People remotely.”
