Indulge your sweet tooth this Friday by celebrating National Donut Day with free treats from some of the biggest national chains.The 'holiday' dates back to 1938 as a way to honor The Salvation Army's Donut Lassies, women who went to France during World War I to hand out donuts and other snacks to weary soldiers on the frontlines. The women's service boosted morale among soldiers, according to The Salvation Army website.
Casey's, a popular Midwetern convenience store chain, is celebrating until June 16 with a free donut for rewards members.Shipley Do-Nuts is offering a free glazed donut with any purchase. The deal can be redeemed in store or online using the code DONUTDAY24.Taco John's is offering free Mexican Donut Bites with any purchase for their Bigger Bolder Rewards program.
