“I never thought I would get another opportunity like this,” former Alabama wide receiver ArDarius Stewart said.
hasn’t played in a regular-season football game since Dec. 31, 2017, when he had a 46-yard reception in the New York Jets’ 26-6 loss to the New England Patriots.
After making the All-SEC team in 2016, Stewart left Alabama for the NFL with a season of eligibility remaining. The NFL suspended Stewart on July 27, 2018, for the first two games of the 2018 season for violating the league’s Policy on Performance-Enhancing Substances.Stewart tested positive for a diuretic, which the NFL considered a masking agent and the same as a positive, or failed, test.
His next opportunity came in 2020 with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, but that chance was put on hold for a year when the CFL canceled its season because of the coronavirus pandemic.
