Sean Zawadzki's 98th minute header stole a point for the Crew from what was about to be a loss to New England. Here's what we learned from the game.

on Saturday, and as he celebrated his goal, Zawadzki ran to the center circle and implored his teammates to quickly restart the play. If there was any time left for the Crew to try to score a game-winning goal, Zawadzki was going to ensure it wasn't wasted.

But in the end, though the way they got there wasn't pretty, the Crew salvaged a point at the death against one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference. Here's what else we learned from the Crew's draw against New England.Much of the ugliness throughout the game was self-inflicted by the Crew.

Midfielder Lucas Zelarayán is always going to shoot from distance when he sees an opportunity, but of the eight shots he took, six were from outside the box, one was on the edge and one was just a couple of yards inside the penalty area. His attempts regularly left the Crew out of possession and scrambling to get the ball back, trying desperately to keep New England from scoring in transition.

It still took them until the very last second to score the tying goal, as New England blocked nearly every ball the Crew sent into the box, but there was a clearer intent and purpose with the ball as the game went along. The game was billed as an opportunity for both sides to prove their mettle against a challenging opponent at the top of the Eastern Conference. After rolling over weaker opponents in the last three weeks, much of Saturday's game was a rude awakening for the Crew that it won't always be that easy, but their ability to find the equalizer late was nonetheless an important sign for Nancy and his players.
