UTH BEND, Ind. — The Notre Dame-Pittsburgh rivalry may not come with a cool nickname or a cherished trophy, as so many in college football do.
It’s not a good combination for the Panthers , who are facing Notre Dame for the first time since 2020. They’ve lost four of five and Fanduel Sportsbooklists Pitts as a 20 1/2-point underdog. “He’s huddling up and taking snaps under center,” Narduzzi said. “If he’s going to play in the NFL, it’s going to be in that type of offense, not what they are doing at Wake Forest. I think he’s probably enjoying it. I think it’s every childhood kid’s dream to play in the National Football League, and he’s going to have an opportunity.”
But Narduzzi benched Jurkovec after the Panthers started 1-4, which included 17-point losses to North Carolina and Virginia Tech. Redshirt sophomore Christian Veilleux replaced Jurkovec, going 1-1 while completing 56.3% of passes with 502 yards, four TDs and zero interceptions.
