But teachers in over a half-dozen other Greater Columbus school districts make or made a higher average salary than those in Columbus and teachers in a seventh local district make or made almost as much, according to data from the districts or Ohio Checkbook. “I don't know places where teachers are overpaid, quite frankly,” Moore Johnson said. “So, you know, I think given the current inflation just general fears about a recession — this is probably a very, very real issue.”
“I worry a lot about whether public schools will have the kind of financial wherewithal that they need to continue educating all the students who need their services,” Moore Johnson said.Melissa Cropper is the president of the Ohio Federation of Teachers — a union that represents 20,000 members across the state that include public school educators and support staff.
