A nurse from West Virginia who traveled to New York and Texas to save lives at the heights of the pandemic has been charged with a shooting a woman back home, local ABC affiliate WCHS reported. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say Amy Thorn, 39 and also known as Amy Ford, shot Jonda Whitt during an argument Thursday evening in her hometown of Williamson, W.Va., in the state’s southwest corner, according to local NBC affiliate WSAZ. After her lifesaving efforts as a nurse, Thorn was lauded by the official White House Facebook page and later spoke at the Republican National Convention.
Police said Thorn and Whitt were arguing before Thorn went to her car, grabbed a gun and shot Whitt, the Williamson Daily News reported. Whitt was rushed to the hospital; Thorn told cops the shooting was in self-defense.©2020 New York Daily News
