Some residents in west Seattle are fighting a proposal to build pickleball courts in their neighborhood.
RELATED |People who oppose the plan say the sport is impacting Lincoln Park's natural areas. They want the courts moved to other locations where it won't affect local wildlife.
"I would hate to see a pickleball court go in here, as much as a love playing the sport, I just think it's a complete misuse of funds and there's other areas, Solstice Park, where there's tennis courts currently," said Kelli Bernhard, pickleball player. The group claims 35,000 people have signed a petition aimed at moving the pickleball courts elsewhere.In a prior response, Seattle Parks and Recreation said there is no opportunity for public engagement, but they are working to answer questions.
