PHOENIX — An excessive heat warning goes into effect at 10 a.m. on Thursday and will last through 8 p.m. Tuesday.
When: Increased heat can bring with it an increased risk of heat-related illness. According to the Centers for Disease Control , heat-related illness can cause damage to the brain and other vital organs. The elderly and those suffering from chronic conditions such as obesity and high blood pressure. If you know someone in a high-risk group please make sure to check in on them through the weekend. It is critical to stay hydrated as temperatures remain high over the next several days.
