We taste-tested Jägerbomb and Sambuca flavoured Blackpool rock to see if it would give us nightclub flashbacks
Whether you live nearby or you've simply visited Blackpool before, we've all tried a bit of rock. And if you haven't, you must have been living under a... well, you get it.
Browsing online, you can see the vast variety of different flavours out there - including chicken tikka and garlic bread. Although it's presumed this is probably not going to be a gastronomic phenomenon, intrigue got the better of me and I set out to the seaside to find the weirdest flavours of rock I could.
Now, Sambuca and Jagerbombs are definitely an acquired taste and were the two that I was most apprehensive to try. Not a fan of aniseed or liquorice, I hesitantly tried the Sambuca and actually, it was surprisingly ok. Although nobody wants to dislike their treats - and I didn't - I did feel a certain sense of disappointment that they'd been so palatable. Each bite was actually quite pleasant, that is to say, I wasn't immediately overtaken with flashbacks of sticky nightclub dance floors and difficult hangovers. I suppose that's a good thing, but I'd maybe been hopeful for a bit of an 'experience' - or at least a bigger burst of flavour.
