The Waukegan Comedy Jam returns Sept. 29 and 30 at Three Brothers Theatre.

Mark Bon and Kristin Carnes will co-host the Waukegan Comedy Jam Sept. 29 and 30 at Three Brothers Theatre in Waukegan.Running from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Sept. 29 and 30 at Three Brothers Theatre in Waukegan, the event features up-and-coming area comics. It’s being organized by Kristin Carnes, a Waukegan native who was living in Boston before moving back to the Midwest.“I started it back in 2019 … I started comedy in Boston and wanted to bring something to my hometown,” she said.

“You network on Facebook … and just by doing comedy around the Midwest, I’ve met a number of people too,” she said.She doesn’t go after comedians with any particular style; rather, she trusts her instincts. Friday’s headliner is Amy Sumpter, who has performed all over the Midwest and has a comedy album on Bandcamp. She was one of the top 100 on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing,” season 9. She is also a member of She’s Crafty, Chicago’s all-female Beastie Boy tribute band.Chicago-based comedian Jarrell Scott Barnes headlines Sept. 30.
