CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Browns avoided the dreaded 0-2 start to the season on Sunday as they held off the Jaguars, 18-13, in Jacksonville to improve to 1-1.
The Browns got off to a good start on offense after Deshaun Watson’s 1-yard rushing touchdown on their first offensive drive. The defense sacked Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence four times, once for a safety. Special teams played a role as Dustin Hopkins hit three field goals and a perfect Corey Bojorquez punt pinned Jacksonville at its 2-yard line, leading to a safety one play later. In my bones, I felt the Browns would lose this game. How about you? – Terry PlutoAfter the game, Kevin Stefanski singled out all three phases of the game in his address with the team in the locker room.
“I’m proud of the offense. I’m proud of the defense, I’m proud of the special teams fellas,” Stefanski said, “because at this point in the season, we need everybody, and everybody showed up. “We have to stay committed to getting better. It’s September. We’re not playing our best yet. But we have to stay committed to playing better as a team.”If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
