Tuesday will mark the ninth straight game Andrew Wiggins has missed for an unspecified family matter.
OKLAHOMA CITY — Andrew Wiggins can take all the time he needs away from the Warriors while he deals with an undisclosed family matter.Wiggins has missed nine straight games and counting, including Tuesday’s matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder. And there’s no clear timeline for when he might return.
“The only thing that matters is just giving Andrew space that he needs to deal with what he’s going through, and that’s what we’re doing,” coach Steve Kerr said. “Nothing else really matters, the focus of the team or the games or whatever, it’s just basketball. So he’s dealing with something that’s important to him and personal, and we’re giving him space. It’s as simple as that.”
“Wiggs is my brother,” Poole said. “We’re giving him strength and all of the support that he needs and whenever he’s ready to come back, whenever he’s ready to join the team, he will… He knows that we all have his back and he can take as much time as he needs and we’re all really good support system and wish him nothing but the best.”
This is the latest adversity Wiggins has faced this season. After getting off to a strong start, Wiggins strained a thigh muscle in early December. That, plus falling ill twice, caused him to miss significant time. When he did finally return in January, Wiggins wasn’t quite himself. He was a step slow on defense and it took some time for his shot to come back.over the Washington Wizards, contributing 29 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
