Warriors' Steph Curry expected to miss about three weeks after suffering shoulder injury

Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry suffered a shoulder injury Wednesday night when he tried to strip the ball away from the Pacers’ Jalen Smith. Now, he's out three weeks, a person familiar with the situation told USA TODAY Sports.

Curry’s absence does not bode well for the Warriors. He was the consistent bright spot on an inconsistent team. He averages 30 points, 6.8 assists and 6.6 rebounds and shoots 50% from the field, 43.4% on 3s and 91.9% from the foul line. Those are MVP stats.

However, the Warriors are 14-15 and in 10th place in the Western Conference. Golden State is just 2-12 on the road with a four-game trip beginning Friday followed by an eight-game homestand that takes the Warriors through Jan. 10. The defending champs lost key players from last year’s team, and the Warriors have struggled to mix other players into the rotation. Starter Andrew Wiggins has missed the past five games with a thigh injury and Klay Thompson generally sits the second game of a back-to-back.
