Warriors’ Otto Porter Jr. exits Game 3 against Mavericks with apparent foot injury

DALLAS — Golden State forward Otto Porter Jr. limped off the American Airlines Center court to the locker room with trainers mid-way through the second quarter, favoring his left foot.

Shortly after halftime, the Warriors announced Porter would not return for the remainder of Game 3 of the Western Conference finals due to a left foot injury. Porter, 28, had been dealing with pain in his left heel since the Western Conference semifinals, an injury that forced him to miss the Warriors’ Game 6 win against the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Warriors’ forward has been an essential part of Golden State’s attack on both ends. His rebounding and timely shooting has helped the Warriors take a 2-0 series lead over the Mavericks in the Western Conference finals. Golden State has outscored opponents by a total of 99 points during Porter’s minutes throughout these playoffs, ranking second only to Andrew Wiggins’ plus-100, with an average plus-8.3 per game. Porter is averaging nearly six points per game on four shot attempts and four rebounds per game.
