Firefighters continue battling the Vista Fire in the San Bernardino National Forest.
As a heat wave makes its way out of Southern California, crews continue battling a fire in San Bernardino County . The Vista Fire broke out Sunday, July 7, just before 10 a.m. in the community of Lytle Creek. For now, it appears the Mt. Baldy Resort will dodge a wildfire threatening the area along hundreds of cabins in the San Bernadino National Forest.As of Friday morning, the fire has burned 2,810 acres with 13% containment.
High heat and dry fuels dictated the fire's behavior and in the coming days, firefighters may face more favorable conditions as humidity moves in. SUGGESTED: California heat wave: Hot and hazy conditions expected over several daysThe cause of the fire is under investigation.Evacuation orders remain in place for the Mt. Baldy Resort.The portion of the Pacific Crest Trail from Lytle Creek to Mt. Baldy is closed. In addition, Hikers are also urged to stay off the trails in the Mt. Baldy area.
