Virginia Tech star point guard Georgia Amoore has entered the transfer portal, the school told ESPN on Monday.
The news comes a week after Virginia Tech coach Kenny Brooks left for theAmoore, a senior, had until Monday to decide whether she was going to declare for the 2024 WNBA draft, where she was a projected first-round pick, or return for a fifth year, using the extra season of eligibility granted to student-athletes during the COVID-19 pandemic.The 5-foot-6 point guard from Australia was a massive force for the Hokies as they became an ACC and national power in recent years.
Virginia Tech -- which Amoore helped propel to the program's first Final Four in 2023 -- bowed out of the NCAA tournament in the second round this year, competing all postseason without three-time ACC player of the yearAmoore will be an immediate impact player wherever she ends up and is likely considered the top player in the transfer portal at this time.
