It is already used as a cut-through for Ikea
Neighbours do not know how a small village road will be able to cope as plans for 20 new homes were approved in their community. Broxtowe Borough Council's planning committee gave the green light for the properties on land in Pinfold Road, Newthorpe, just north of Giltbrook, at a meeting on Wednesday, May 7.
While residents say the development does not bother them aesthetically, some have raised concerns about how the already busy narrow road will cope with increased traffic. Rebecca Gregory, a 42-year-old midwife said: "I'm concerned about the disruption that it's going to bring, especially during the building process."They're probably going to have to close the road at some point too. I hope that they have some measures in place or something to slow the cars down.
Another Pinfold Road resident added: "I have got concerns about the traffic that it will bring. It's already a cut-through for people going to and coming back from Ikea. I already don't dare park my car on the road. "I'm not too bothered about it aesthetically because it's just a pile of rubble at the moment. I've been living here for 15 years and the land used to be a retirement field for a horse."
