The property has a main hall on the upper floor and various smaller meeting rooms, as well as toilet and kitchen facilities.
The two-storey traditional sandstone building from the late 19th century, which has a small extension, in Main Street is currently unoccupied.
It was tenanted by the Church of Nazarene from June 2011 until April 2022, according to the council paper, and sub-leased to a variety of community groups and organisations throughout that period. The council said the level of investment needed in the property made the prospect of a community asset transfer – where responsibility for an asset transfers from the local authority to a community group or voluntary organisation – a “difficult route” for eligible bodies.
