Metro RTA said it’s never the bus driver’s decision to deny anyone a ride.
It shows the mother, Chelsea, trying to board the bus. Valerie is screaming, crying and throws her iPad. Valerie and Chelsea were waiting at the Metro Transit center around 2 p.m. on July 21 and were planning to board bus 13.
Valerie always gets chips inside the center at the café, but it was closed on Sunday. Valerie’s grandmother, Julie Bohoff, says Valerie had a tantrum because she couldn’t ger her chips.” “Once she would have gotten on the bus. She would have been fine. She would have calmed down, it was just at that moment she was very upset,” said Bohoff.“Obviously he noticed something wasn’t right, is everything okay, is there anything I can do to help, something other than saying you can’t get on the bus with her acting like that,” said Bohoff.
“She can’t drive. She depends on metro to take her to doctor appointments or just to take Valerie on an outing for the day. Whatever it may be, she counts on these buses,” said Bohoff.“METRO RTA Operators are trained to serve passengers of all abilities and backgrounds. We pride ourselves in transporting all of our transit loyal riders each and every day and with the respect they deserve.
